VOLCANIC: An Immersive Concept-Album Microsite for Omni
A cinematic, scroll-driven microsite for Omni's ritual-industrial concept album VOLCANIC; turning fourteen tracks across ten languages into an interactive descent into the heart of the earth.
An Album That Deserved More Than a Player
VOLCANIC is a ritual-industrial concept album by the music producer Omni; an initiation that descends through mountains, volcanic chambers, and ancient memory across fourteen tracks sung in ten European languages. Each track grows from a real fire tradition, from Norwegian midsummer bonfires to Bulgarian firewalking and the eternal flame of Rome.
A piece of work this layered couldn't live on a streaming link alone. Omni came to Drake Design Studio for a home that matched the album's ambition; somewhere a listener could descend into the concept, read the stories beneath each track, and feel the journey as much as hear it.

The Challenge
VOLCANIC is the work of one person, with no label and no budget, but enormous depth: fourteen tracks, ten languages, and a layer of cultural, musical, and linguistic research sitting beneath every song. The challenge was to present all of that without burying the listener, and without the site feeling like a textbook.
It also had to be felt. The album asks to be experienced as a full-body descent into the earth, so a flat tracklist would never do. And because Omni wanted the music open to anyone, including people without a streaming subscription, the site needed to make free listening effortless while still loading fast across a content-heavy, image-rich page.
Our Approach
We treated the site as the album's fourth medium; not a player, but a place. A dark, cinematic art direction and a scroll-driven structure carry the visitor down through the three chapters (Descent, Awakening, Revelation), with chapter breaks and interludes pacing the journey like the music does.
Each track became an interactive card revealing tempo, key, and the cultural inspiration, fire tradition, and musical heritage behind it, with curated links to go deeper. We designed a standalone etymology feature on the chant-words running through the album, added pronunciation audio, and built in Open Graph cards and a prominent free-stream link; all on a responsive, accessible page tuned to stay fast despite the weight of content.
The Outcome
An Experience, Not a Landing Page
The finished microsite turns a concept album into a descent you can scroll through. Art direction, pacing, and motion all serve the music, so visitors don't just read about VOLCANIC; they take the journey.
Depth Without Overload
Expandable track cards let casual listeners skim and curious ones dive deep into the cultural and musical roots of each song; the same page works for a thirty-second visit and a thirty-minute read.
Free, Open Listening
A clear free-stream route means anyone can hear the album in full, with no account and no subscription; honouring Omni's intent that the work stay open to everyone.
Made to Be Shared
Polished Open Graph and social cards mean every shared link arrives looking like the album it represents, helping a no-budget independent release punch well above its weight.
